Crazy Time is Evolution’s flagship live game show: a host-spun money wheel with four bonus rounds, an RTP between 94.33% and 96.08% depending on where you bet, and multipliers that can reach 20,000x in the Crazy Time bonus.
Released in July 2020, it has become the most-watched live casino game in the world — and also one of the most misunderstood, because your RTP depends entirely on which bet spots you choose. This review explains every bet, every bonus round, and the honest math behind the spectacle.

How Crazy Time Works
A live host spins a large vertical money wheel. You bet on where it stops: one of four number segments (1, 2, 5, 10 — paying that multiple of your bet) or one of four bonus games. Above the wheel, the Top Slot spins on every round and can attach a random multiplier to one bet spot — when it matches the winning segment, payouts on that spot are multiplied.
If the wheel lands on a bonus segment, everyone who bet on that bonus enters the round; everyone else watches. Roughly one spin in six lands on a bonus, which is exactly why the game feels so watchable — something is always almost happening.
RTP by Bet Spot — the Part Most Players Skip
Crazy Time does not have one RTP. Per Evolution’s published figures, each bet spot has its own:
| Bet spot | RTP |
|---|---|
| Number 1 | 96.08% |
| Cash Hunt | 96.05% |
| Number 2 | 95.95% |
| Number 5 | 95.78% |
| Number 10 | 95.73% |
| Coin Flip | 95.70% |
| Crazy Time | 94.41% |
| Pachinko | 94.33% |
Read that table twice, because it inverts most players’ instincts: the “boring” Number 1 bet is the best value in the game, and the two most exciting bonuses — Crazy Time and Pachinko — are the worst. You pay roughly 1.7 percentage points of long-term return for the thrill of the headline rounds. That’s a legitimate entertainment trade, but you should know you’re making it.
The Four Bonus Rounds
Coin Flip (most frequent)
A red/blue coin is flipped between two multipliers. Simple, fast, frequent — and typically the smallest bonus payouts. Its 95.70% RTP makes it a middling pick.
Cash Hunt (best bonus value — 96.05%)
A shooting gallery of 108 hidden multipliers; you pick a target and win what’s behind it. Everyone can hit a different multiplier, and its RTP is nearly identical to Number 1 — the only bonus you can back without a value penalty. The all-time record win came here: a 25,000x multiplier in December 2022 paying €2.8 million.
Pachinko (94.33%)
A puck drops through a peg wall into multiplier slots, with “DOUBLE” slots that can escalate dramatically. Maximum drama, lowest RTP in the game.
Crazy Time (the headline — 94.41%)
The door opens into a giant secondary wheel with three flappers (green, blue, yellow). Multipliers can double or triple up to the 20,000x cap. It is the reason the game exists and the clip you’ve seen on every streamer’s channel — and it lands rarely, pays unevenly, and carries the second-worst RTP on the board.
Is There a Crazy Time Strategy?
No betting pattern changes the RTP of any spot — the wheel has no memory. What you can control:
- Anchor on Number 1 or 2 if you want the longest playtime for your money.
- Add Cash Hunt as your bonus exposure — it’s the only bonus priced fairly.
- Treat Crazy Time/Pachinko bets as entertainment spend, not value plays.
- Ignore “bet on everything” systems — covering all spots just guarantees you hold the average of all those RTPs while losing on most segments every spin.
- Set a session budget before the wheel spins — the game’s pace (a round every ~40 seconds, always another bonus “coming”) is engineered to keep you seated.
Who Is Crazy Time For?
Play it if: you want live entertainment with a social element, you’re comfortable that excitement costs RTP, and you budget it like a night out.
Skip it if: you’re optimizing for return — high-RTP slots or live blackjack give you meaningfully better math — or if fast, always-on games test your limits. It’s also worth comparing with classic table games in our roulette and casino games guide.
Our Verdict
8.5/10. As entertainment, Crazy Time is the best thing Evolution has ever built — the production is flawless and the bonus rounds are genuinely fun to watch even when you’re not in them. As a gamble, it’s a below-average-RTP product whose best bets are its least glamorous ones. Know which of those two products you’re buying.
FAQ
What is the RTP of Crazy Time?
Between 94.33% and 96.08% depending on the bet spot. Number 1 (96.08%) and Cash Hunt (96.05%) are the best value; Pachinko (94.33%) and the Crazy Time bonus (94.41%) are the worst.
What is the maximum win in Crazy Time?
Multipliers are capped at 20,000x in the Crazy Time bonus round. The largest recorded win was a 25,000x Cash Hunt result in December 2022 (multipliers there stack differently), paying about €2.8 million.
How often do the bonus rounds hit?
The wheel lands on a bonus segment roughly one spin in six on average. Which bonus varies — Coin Flip has the most segments and appears most often; Crazy Time has the fewest.
Is Crazy Time better than slots?
It depends on the goal. Top slots offer higher RTP (96%+ consistently), while Crazy Time offers a live, social, host-driven experience at a slightly worse long-term return. For pure value, blackjack beats both.
Can I use a strategy to win at Crazy Time?
No system changes the odds — outcomes are independent and the RTP per spot is fixed. The only real “strategy” is bet selection: favouring Number 1/2 and Cash Hunt gives you the best of the published RTPs.
